A Muslim youth was injured in a firing incident in Haryana’s Nuh district after police personnel believed to be part of a Meghalaya Police investigation team allegedly opened fire during an operation in the area, while escorting a key accused in an ATM robbery case.
According to a written complaint submitted to Haryana Police at Pingawa Police Station, the incident occurred around 6 pm on March 10 near a hotel located on the Bhadas–Shikrava road in Shikrava village, Nuh district.
Muslim Youth Injured by Bullet
The complaint alleges that a police vehicle bearing registration number ML-05/S-4645, reportedly linked to a team from Meghalaya, stopped near the hotel where several local residents had gathered.
According to the complaint filed by Abdullah, a resident of Shikrava village, a man in civilian clothing stepped out of the vehicle and allegedly fired a shot without warning.

The bullet reportedly struck a Muslim youth, Tarif, son of Hameed, a local welder who was present at the location.
The complainant says that Tarif had been working at the hotel when the incident occurred and had no connection with the person who had allegedly been detained by the police team.
Tarif was taken to Nalhad Medical College by his family for initial treatment and later referred to PGI Rohtak for further medical care. His condition was reported to be stable at the time of filing the complaint, though he had sustained significant bleeding from the gunshot wound.
Crowd Gathers After Firing
The complaint further adds that several shots were allegedly fired at the scene before the vehicle left the area.
A crowd gathered shortly afterwards, and traffic on the road was briefly disrupted.
Videos purportedly showing the incident have also circulated on social media, raising questions about the circumstances under which the interstate police operation was carried out.
Allegations Against Arbitrary Police Action
Social worker Hidayat Khan described the incident as “deeply concerning” and called for a high-level inquiry into the firing to determine whether established procedures were followed.
In a public statement, he urged the Haryana government and district administration to ensure that “the rule of law prevails and justice is delivered.”
Local community representatives and panchayat members have also demanded transparency and accountability regarding the police action that led to the injury of a civilian.
ATM Robbery Suspect Being Escorted
Police officials said the accused, identified as Rahul Khan, a resident of Wajidpur village in Nuh district, is a key suspect in an ATM robbery case involving lakhs of rupees registered at Mawngap police station in East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya.

Rahul had reportedly been arrested earlier with the assistance of a Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) team from Punhana and was later handed over to the Meghalaya Police.
According to local accounts, the police team was present in the area with the suspect linked to the ATM theft case. Residents claim the team was moving through the district without coordination with the local police.
However, these claims have not been officially confirmed.
Police Say Firing Was in Self-Defence
According to police officials, cited in a report by The Tribune, a group of villagers attempted to free the accused and began pelting stones at the police vehicle.
Officials said the situation escalated quickly as a large crowd gathered, forcing the police team to open fire in an attempt to control the situation.
Police have maintained that the firing was carried out in self-defence after the team came under attack.
As of now, officials from Haryana Police have not released a detailed public statement clarifying the circumstances of the firing or the role of the Meghalaya Police team.
Meanwhile, residents from the area are awaiting official clarification from authorities regarding the circumstances of the firing and the legality of the interstate police action.
Further investigation into the matter is expected.
