Delhi High Court Orders “Best Possible Protection” for Tarun’s Family After Alleged Threats

Delhi Court directs Delhi Police to ensure full protection after Tarun's family alleges fresh threats.

The Delhi High Court on Thursday directed the Delhi Police to ensure “best possible protection” for the family of 26-year-old Tarun, who was killed during Holi celebrations in Uttam Nagar.

Justice Girish Kathpalia passed the order after Tarun’s mother, Laxmi Devi, and other family members approached the court alleging fresh threats from people linked to the accused.

The court also instructed that the local Station House Officer must share his personal mobile number with the family so they can immediately contact the police in case of any emergency or threat.

Family alleges threats and intimidation after murder case

Tarun’s family told the court that on April 13, a group of women allegedly connected to the accused came to their locality. They were said to be wearing masks and issued direct threats to the mother.

According to the plea, the women warned that just as one son had been killed, the other son would also be murdered in public if the family did not withdraw from the case.

The family also informed the court that several inflammatory and communally sensitive videos related to the incident were circulating online, which they said was increasing tension in the area.

Police tell court security arrangements are in place

The Delhi Police informed the court that security arrangements have already been strengthened around Tarun’s residence. Officers said CCTV cameras have been installed in the lane and nearby areas, and police pickets have been set up to maintain law and order.

A police picket has also been stationed directly outside Tarun’s house to ensure safety.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police told the court that more than 250 inflammatory videos and social media posts had already been removed from various platforms.

The court directed the family to share details of any remaining objectionable content with the local SHO, who would take immediate legal action.

Investigation into threats underway

On the alleged threat incident of April 13, police told the court that video footage and other evidence are being examined. The inquiry is being handled by an Assistant Commissioner of Police.

After recording the submissions from both sides, the High Court disposed of the plea while noting the assurances given by the police.

Legal teams present in court

Senior Advocate Pramod Kumar Dubey, along with a team of lawyers, appeared for Tarun’s family. The Delhi Police was represented by Additional Standing Counsel Sanjeev Bhandari along with other counsel.
