Confident of a third consecutive win in the Lok Sabha polls, the BJP has set itself a target of winning with over 400 seats. Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP party functionary finalized a slogan for their campaign in a meeting on Tuesday — “Teesri Baar Modi Sarkar, Ab Ki Baar Char Sau Paar” (Modi government for the third time, this time with over 400).

In the previous elections, BJP secured 303 seats in 2019 and 282 seats in 2014. Moreover, along with its allies, it had 353 seats and 336 seats in the 2019 and 2014 polls respectively.

The meeting held in Delhi was chaired by the party’s national president JP Nadda, in the presence of senior party members including Labour and Employment Minister Bhupender Yadav, Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and general secretaries Tarun Chugh and Sunil Bansal, to discuss strategies, campaign and issues to be taken up for the Lok Sabha polls.

After discussing for over two hours, the functionary also decided on conveners and co-conveners at the State Assembly and Lok Sabha levels. It has also decided that it would invite influential leaders from other parties to join its fold in all belts and not just in constituencies having strong bases.

A committee of senior leaders called ‘the joining committee’ including Union minister Anurag Thakur and party general secretary B L Santhosh among others, is set up to “vet the list of inductees from different states”.

The party also announced that the prominent leaders will shortly begin with their tours as part of the campaign including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister  Rajnath Singh and Nadda. As a part of this, PM Modi is set to visit Thrissur of Kerala, and attend a program alongside star-studded women like actress Shobhana, cricketer Minnu Mani and Mariakutty Chettathi, and others to kick off BJP’s Lok Sabha run in the state on Wednesday.

Through the newly coined slogan, the party aims to emphasize their goal which is to not only retain office but also to further strengthen its parliamentary hold. In a series of meetings attended by approximately 150 functionaries regarding the same, the party has decided to undertake a few efforts to intensify the campaign.

According to The Indian Express, the BJP’s poll strategy this time is centred around PM Modi, as a thrust of the party’s campaign, upholding him as a “symbol of Hindutva, development and India’s global image”. The party has various plans to celebrate and campaign as it draws up the Ayodhya Temple campaign roadmap ahead of its “pran pratishtha (consecration ceremony)”. A cleanliness campaign, lighting of diyas called “Ram Jyotis”, assisting devotees, etc are a part of the plan until the inauguration scheduled for January 22.

Along with this, the BJP has decided the outline of a nationwide campaign to run special programs in the entire country for the next two months even after the Pran Pratistha ceremony.

PTI reported that Chhaan Bhujbal, Maharashtra cabinet minister said that he is confident that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will get another term in office looking at the current atmosphere in the country, in the Lok Sabha polls due in March-April.
