An All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader, Mehboob Ali, was stabbed to death in Hyderabad’s Falaknuma area late Sunday night, August 30. The motive behind the attack has not yet been established, and police have launched an investigation.

Attack in Vattepalli

According to preliminary information, Ali was attacked in Vattepalli, within the limits of Falaknuma police station. Police said a group of around five to six people surrounded him near Almas Hotel and attacked him with knives and sickles.

Ali suffered multiple stab wounds and was seriously injured in the attack. The assailants reportedly fled the spot after the assault, leaving him on the road for around 15 minutes.

He was later taken to a hospital for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Falaknuma police reached the spot after receiving information about the attack and began collecting details about the incident. Police officials said three special teams have been formed to identify and arrest the suspects.

The reason behind the murder is currently unclear, and investigators are examining the circumstances leading up to the attack.

AIMIM MLA Demands Strict Action

AIMIM local MLA Mohammed Mubin met Ali’s bereaved family and expressed his condolences. He also visited the police station and spoke to police officials, demanding immediate action against those responsible.

In a post on X, Mubin said he was “deeply saddened and shocked by the brutal murder of Mehboob Ali.”

He said Ali was attacked by unidentified assailants in Vattepally “with murderous weapons” and called for swift action in the case.

The MLA also urged the Telangana government and Hyderabad Police to increase patrolling in the area and take measures against violent crime and anti-social activities.

“We urge the Telangana government and Hyderabad Police to increase patrolling, crack down on anti-social elements and take strict action against the growing menace of drugs and violent crimes, so as to ensure the safety of every citizen,” Mubin said.

The police investigation is underway, with efforts focused on identifying the attackers and determining the motive behind the murder.
