Three men from Delhi, suspected of cow slaughter, were arrested after a confrontation with police in Meerut district, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday night. Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Rakesh Kumar Mishra reported that one of the suspects was injured in the encounter.

The suspects, identified as Akash, his brother Gopal, and their acquaintance Alok, all from Delhi’s Paharganj area, allegedly slaughtered three bulls in Tigri village fields on November 5. A case was filed in connection with the incident.

Police encountered the men while conducting a vehicle inspection near the Shahjahanpur Raghana canal. When the police signaled them to stop, the men reportedly attempted to flee, initiating gunfire. In the ensuing exchange, Akash was shot in the leg and hospitalized, while the other two were apprehended after a pursuit.

Police have recovered a motorcycle, a pistol, and cartridges from the suspects, who are described as nomads by the SSP (Rural).
