Two buildings of the prominent Samajwadi Party leader Mohammad Azam Khan’s Jauhar University have come under the Enemy Property Act. Following the identification of these buildings as enemy properties, the administration has issued notices for their evacuation. One of these buildings houses sports activities and a gym, while the other is currently locked. The administration has taken control of 50% of enemy properties within the university.
“Two buildings in Jauhar University have been identified as enemy properties. We have issued notices to vacate these buildings within a week,” said Monika Singh, SDM President.
The university sits on 13.08 hectares of land, which has been classified as enemy property. Following a High Court order, the Enemy Property Department instructed the administration to demarcate and seize the land within Jauhar University.
A team led by SDM President Monika Singh, Deputy Tehsildar Gaurav Bishnoi, and Enemy Property Department Supervisor Prashant Kumar, along with revenue department officials and heavy police presence, arrived at the university on Friday. They measured the land and initiated the process of taking possession.
“The demarcation process continued throughout the day. During this, two buildings were identified as enemy properties, and notices have been issued to vacate them,” added Monika Singh.
The administration has set a deadline of one week to vacate these buildings. Officials stated that 50% of the enemy properties in the university have been seized, with work still ongoing.
“Two buildings within Jauhar University, previously sealed, have now been officially notified for evacuation. The land, totalling 13.08 hectares, will be handed over to the Enemy Property Department,” said Monika Singh.
In another development, the hearing of a case against SP leader Azam Khan for violating the Model Code of Conduct during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections could not take place. The case registered at Ganj Police Station, was scheduled for a hearing on Wednesday but has been postponed to July 29.
