RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on March 10, 2025, criticized BJP MLA Haribhushan Thakur Bachaul for urging Muslims to stay indoors during Holi, calling the remarks communal and demanding an FIR against him.
“It is not his father’s rule (baap ka raj). There should be an FIR against him for trying to whip up communal tension,” Yadav said while addressing the Bihar Assembly. He also urged Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to take action against Bachaul for inflaming religious tensions.
Bachaul’s comments came ahead of Holi on March 14, which coincides with Jumma (Friday) during Ramazan. He suggested that Muslims should prioritize Holi over their prayers and remain indoors if they object to being smeared with colors.
Yadav dismissed Bachaul’s remarks as divisive, stating, “This is Bihar! Here, for every Muslim’s support and protection, five Hindus stand together.” He assured that RJD would not allow communal violence under any circumstances.
The BJP MLA’s comments echo recent UP police statements urging Muslims to accommodate Holi celebrations, sparking concerns about communal harmony.
