A civil rights organization, the National Confederation of Dalit and Adivasi Organisations (NACDAOR), said on Monday that Dalit support for the BJP in Delhi has remained largely steady since the 2020 Assembly elections. Meanwhile, the Congress appears to have gained trust among Dalit voters, primarily at the expense of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Releasing the findings of a survey conducted in collaboration with The Convergent Media, NACDAOR Chairman Ashok Bharti said, “In 2020, Dalit votes were distributed as 33% for BJP, 53% for AAP, and 11% for Congress. For the upcoming polls, the survey shows the BJP at 32%, AAP at 44%, and Congress at 21%.”

The survey, carried out between January 1 and 15, involved 6,256 respondents across 10 Assembly constituencies in Delhi. It aimed to assess voter sentiment and trends ahead of the February 5 elections.

Bharti added, “The Congress seems to have gained ground among Dalits, though the BJP’s support remains almost unchanged. AAP, however, has seen a decline in its Dalit vote share.”
