Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde will take oath as the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra on Thursday in Mumbai’s Azad Maidan. BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis will be sworn in as the chief minister of the state. Ajit Pawar will also take oath as the second deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, as per ANI.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, CMs of BJP -ruled states, and the party’s top leadership will likely attend the event.
On Wednesday, Fadnavis extended an invitation to Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde to join his upcoming cabinet. Speaking to the media, Fadnavis said, “Yesterday, I met with Eknath Shinde and conveyed that it is the strong desire of Mahayuti workers for him to be part of our government. I have full confidence that he will stand with us, and we are committed to delivering on the promises made to the people of Maharashtra.”
Meanwhile, Eknath Shinde on Wednesday expressed his satisfaction with the two-and-a-half years of the Mahayuti government in Maharashtra, just ahead of the swearing-in of BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis as Chief Minister.
“I am very happy with the completion of two-and-a-half years. The work done by our government–the Mahayuti government–by the three of us and our team in the last 2.5 years is remarkable. It will be written in golden letters in history. We are proud to have taken such significant decisions,” said Shinde.
In the recent Maharashtra assembly elections, the BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP alliance secured a landslide victory, winning a total of 235 seats. The BJP emerged as the single-largest party, securing 132 seats.
