Ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, Jammu and Kashmir Wakf Board Chairperson Dr Darakhshan Andrabi has asked people to keep public spaces clean by properly disposing of sacrificial animal waste.
In a public message, Dr Andrabi said, “I request everyone to dig a pit and bury the sacrificial waste at the same spot. It is not Islamic to leave animal remains in the open where dogs feed on them and public areas become polluted.”
She warned that throwing sacrificial remains on roads or in public dustbins creates unhygienic conditions and attracts stray dogs.
Dr Andrabi expressed hope that people, especially the youth, would act responsibly. “This is both a matter of faith and civic responsibility. We expect a positive response, especially from our youth, who are aware of Islamic guidance on hygiene and public welfare,” she said.
She also said that those found littering roads with sacrificial waste will face fines. The Wakf Board, along with local authorities, will monitor the situation to keep public places clean during the festival.
Eid-ul-Azha, also called the Festival of Sacrifice, is expected to be observed on June 7.
