An event at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) on Saturday became a topic of discussion after Uttar Pradesh Minister of State (Independent Charge) Dinesh Pratap Singh ended his speech with the slogan “Jai Shri Ram” at the university’s Kennedy Auditorium.

The event, organised by the Horticulture Department, was held to educate farmers about modern farming methods, crop diversification, horticulture, agricultural entrepreneurship, and government welfare schemes.

According to reports, the minister concluded his address by raising the slogan “Jai Shri Ram,” after which chants of “Namo Parvati Namah” and “Har Har Mahadev” were also heard in the auditorium.

The development drew attention as such religious slogans at an official event inside AMU’s Kennedy Hall are being widely discussed in the city. Attendees at the programme also reportedly raised slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” creating an energetic atmosphere inside the hall.

UP Minister Highlights Modern Farming and Farmers’ Income

Addressing the gathering, Dinesh Pratap Singh stressed the importance of adopting modern agricultural techniques and increasing horticulture production to improve farmers’ earnings.

He said the Uttar Pradesh government is continuously working to raise farmers’ income through different welfare schemes.

“Farmers can earn better profits by adopting new technologies and innovations in the horticulture sector,” the minister said during the programme.

The seminar witnessed participation from a large number of progressive farmers from Aligarh, Agra, and Meerut divisions. Officials said the objective of the event was to inform farmers about advanced cultivation methods, improved crop varieties, and export opportunities in agriculture.

During the event, farmers who had performed exceptionally in agriculture and horticulture were also honoured. Several farmers shared their experiences and discussed modern farming experiments and practices.

Senior officials, including Commissioner Sangeeta Singh and public representatives, were present at the event.

Rain Disrupts Agriculture Exhibition at Kennedy Hall

Meanwhile, an agriculture exhibition organised in the Kennedy Hall campus was partially affected by sudden rainfall.

The exhibition showcased advanced farming techniques, modern crop varieties, fruits, vegetables, and organic products aimed at helping farmers improve productivity.

A large number of farmers and visitors had gathered to explore new agricultural technologies and equipment. However, heavy rain later disrupted the exhibition, damaging some stalls and forcing organisers to move crops and agricultural products kept in open spaces to safer locations.
