Karnataka Police Arrest Two Muslim Youth for Hoisting Tricolour with Kalma in Yelburga

In Koppal district, Karnataka, two Muslim youth were arrested for hoisting the tricolour with Kalma in Yelburga. The incident took place in the 9th ward of Yelburga town, where the flag was hoisted on top of the BB Fathima Dargah two days after Eid Milad and came to public attention on Friday when photos were shared on social media.

Upon receiving complaints, police visited the site and instructed the Dargah authorities to remove the flag. Police said that Mohammad Danish Kutubuddin Khazi and his brother Mohammad Adinan Khazi were arrested and admitted to stitching the flag, replacing the Ashoka Chakra with the Arabic sentence “La Illah Illalla Mohammad Rasul Allah” and the words “Madina Masjid.”

The area has witnessed communal tension recently, with a Hindu group protesting against a “Free Palestine” banner during Eid Milad celebrations, which was later removed at the police’s request. To prevent further disturbances, local community leaders from both Hindu and Muslim groups have been holding meetings to promote peace and communal harmony.
