Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir recently addressed a gathering of Pakistanis living abroad, reinforcing Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir and the two-nation theory.

Kashmir as “Pakistan’s Jugular Vein”
General Munir said that Kashmir is and will always be Pakistan’s “jugular vein,” a critical part of the nation. “Kashmir was our jugular vein, it will be our jugular vein, and we will never forget it,” he said. He vowed that Pakistan would continue to support Kashmir in its struggle for self-determination.

Defending the Two-Nation Theory
General Munir also defended the two-nation theory, which was the foundation for Pakistan’s creation in 1947. He explained, “Our forefathers believed we are different from Hindus in every aspect—religion, culture, traditions, and ambitions. This was the basis of the two-nation theory.” The two-nation theory proposed that Muslims and Hindus were distinct nations, which justified the creation of Pakistan as a separate state.

He also stressed, “We are not one nation. Our forefathers fought and sacrificed for the creation of Pakistan. We know how to defend it, and we must pass this story to the next generation to ensure our bond with Pakistan remains strong.”

A Strong Defense Against Terrorism and Separatism
General Munir addressed concerns about terrorism and its impact on Pakistan’s future. He said, “Terrorists cannot decide Pakistan’s destiny. If the 1.3 million-strong Indian Army cannot intimidate us, do you think terrorists can defeat us?”

He also spoke strongly about Balochistan, stating that separatist movements in the region would not succeed. “Balochistan is Pakistan’s pride. These terrorists won’t be able to take it away in 10 generations. Inshallah, we will defeat them.”

Reaffirming “Support for Kashmiris
Speaking about Kashmir, he said, “We will not leave our Kashmiri brothers in their heroic struggle.” His remarks make it clear that Kashmir remains a central issue for Pakistan, and the country will not change its stance.
