Baba Siddique, a senior leader of the Ajit Pawar faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), was shot and killed by unidentified assailants in Bandra, Mumbai, on October 12.
The shooting occurred at the office of his son, Zeeshan Siddique, who serves as the MLA from Bandra East. Siddique was rushed to Lilavati Hospital for treatment but was later pronounced dead.
“Two to three rounds were fired. Further investigation is underway, and teams have rushed to the area,” a police official stated. Following the incident, police have taken two individuals into custody in connection with the shooting.
Siddique had recently transitioned from the Congress party to the NCP. His death comes just ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, raising concerns about the potential implications for political stability in the state.
