On December 25th, tensions flared in Balasore, Odisha, when a Hindutva group called Deva Sena, along with other villagers, tied two women to a tree and harassed them for celebrating Christmas. The women were accused of promoting religious conversion.

According to reports, the incident occurred in the Gokabdanpur village near Mitrapur, where a tribal family was allegedly lured into conversion during a feast. The situation escalated when three people, including Subasini Singh, Sukanti Singh, and Gobind Singh, were accused of attempting to convert tribal families.

The villagers, outraged by the alleged conversion attempt, took matters into their own hands. They tied the three individuals to a tree, threw cooked meat away, and even smeared cake on their faces.

The police were notified, and they detained the three individuals for questioning, bringing the situation under control. The police are investigating the incident.
