Nuh Police have arrested six youths who were allegedly preparing to travel to Delhi to retaliate against an assault during a recent clash at Jamia Millia Islamia, officials said.
The Crime Branch team intercepted the group in Salamba village after receiving information that the youths were allegedly planning an attack. Police said illegal weapons and sticks were recovered from their possession.
The accused have been identified as Subedin and Firoz, residents of Salahedi village; Bilal and Sahil, residents of Nuh city; and Naseem and Parvez, residents of Saunkh village.
Police Recover Country-Made Weapons
According to police, the six had gathered in Salamba village to allegedly plan retaliation after Bilal was assaulted during a dispute at Jamia Millia Islamia in Delhi earlier this week.
Police said they recovered a country-made pistol, a country-made “Pauna” gun and three bamboo sticks from the group.
“They were preparing to travel to Delhi with the weapons and sticks to carry out the attack,” a police officer said.
Nuh Police spokesperson Krishna Kumar said the CIA team received information that a group of youths involved in a dispute at Jamia was preparing to commit a serious crime and was planning to travel to Delhi.
“The team acted on the information and detained all six before they could leave,” Kumar said.
FIR Registered Under Arms Act
An FIR has been registered against the accused at Nuh Sadar police station under the Arms Act.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the Jamia dispute, the alleged motive behind the planned retaliation and the source of the weapons.
The accused are also being questioned to determine whether other people were allegedly involved in the plan.
The arrests come as Nuh Police have increased patrolling and surveillance across the district to prevent crime, following directions from Superintendent of Police Dr Arpit Jain, according to the police spokesperson.
The allegations against the six have not been established in court, and the investigation is ongoing.
