Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Launches New Aadhaar App for ‘Seamless and Secure’ Digital Verification

Ashwini Vaishnaw

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday unveiled the highly anticipated Aadhaar app, aimed at making the Aadhaar verification process more accessible and secure for Indian citizens.

In his announcement on X (formerly Twitter), Vaishnaw said that Aadhaar verification would soon become as simple as making a UPI payment, marking a significant leap in digital verification technology.

The new Aadhaar app, developed in collaboration with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), integrates advanced features such as Face ID authentication and artificial intelligence (AI). This app will offer users a seamless and secure way to verify their identity digitally, eliminating the need for carrying physical Aadhaar cards or photocopies.

One of the key features of the app is its QR code-based instant verification. By simply scanning a QR code at various points of authentication, users will be able to verify their Aadhaar information securely without sharing physical copies. In addition, the real-time Face ID authentication ensures that the process is fast and secure.

In his post, Vaishnaw stated, “With the launch of this app, Aadhaar verification becomes as simple as making a UPI payment. No need to hand over Aadhaar photocopies at hotel receptions, shops, or during travel. The Aadhaar app is secure and shareable only with the user’s consent. It is 100% digital and secure.”

The app will allow users to maintain complete control over their personal information, enabling them to share only the necessary data required for verification. This makes the process not only more efficient but also far more secure, as personal data is directly shared from the user’s phone, rather than through physical copies.

With its QR code verification feature, the app is set to revolutionize the way Aadhaar is used for identity verification. Soon, Aadhaar verification QR codes will be available at various points of authentication, including hotels, shops, and travel facilities.

The new Aadhaar app is currently in the beta testing phase and is expected to be widely implemented across India in the coming months.
