UP: Principal Suspended Over Students’ Namaz in Lucknow School

Up teacher suspended Namaz

A video depicting students performing Namaz within a school in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, has gone viral on social media. The incident occurred at the Napier Road Colony Primary School, in the Thakurganj police station area.

The principal of the Napier Road Colony Primary School, Meera Yadav, faced immediate suspension on October 21, following the dissemination of the video, in accordance with the Uttar Pradesh Government Servant (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1999.

Upon the video’s viral circulation, local councillor Manish Rastogi, in collaboration with Ankur Kumar, the district coordinator of the Vishwa Hindu Mahasabha, and other parties, organized a protest against the students participating in Namaz within the school premises. They alleged that Meera Yadav, the school’s in-charge, had compelled the students to perform Namaz and formally lodged a complaint with Zone 6’s regional officer.

A local education officer was appointed to conduct an investigation in response to the uproar. Preliminary findings indicated that two teachers and an education worker at the school were found to be involved in the incident. Meera Yadav, the principal, teachers Tahzeeb Fatima and education worker Mamta Mishra, have been suspended pending a inquiry into the matter.
