Sara Ali Khan Must Submit Affidavit Proving Hindu Faith to Pray at Kedarnath and Badrinath, Badri-Kedar Committee States

Sara Ali Khan may need to submit an affidavit to Kedarnath and Badrinath temples, as the Badri-Kedar Temple Committee requires non-Hindus to prove faith in Sanatan Dharma.

Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan may now have to submit an affidavit to seek blessings at the Kedarnath and Badrinath temples, following a new directive by the Badri-Kedar Temple Committee.

Non-Hindus Asked to Prove Faith

Addressing the media on Tuesday, Hemant Dwivedi, chairman of the temple committee, said that all non-Hindu visitors will need to provide proof of belief in Sanatan Dharma before offering prayers.

He told reporters, “If Sara Ali Khan expresses her devotion towards Sanatan Dharma and submits an affidavit, we will allow her to offer prayers.” He added that non-Hindus must submit a written declaration stating their faith in Hinduism to enter the temples.

Kangana Ranaut Supports Transparency

Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut reacted to the development, emphasizing that there should be no fear in stating one’s faith truthfully. Speaking outside Parliament, she said, “Sab sanatani hain… Yahan jo bhi hain sanatani hain… Wo bhi sanatani hai. So why fear in writing down the truth?”

Her comments came amid growing discussion on religious access at prominent pilgrimage sites.

Sara Ali Khan’s Spiritual Journey

Sara Ali Khan has maintained a close spiritual connection with Kedarnath Temple since her debut film Kedarnath in 2017. Over the years, she has returned almost every year, often during the temple’s open season from April to November.

Her visits involve trekking or helicopter rides to the high-altitude shrine at approximately 3,583 meters. She participates in standard rituals, including early morning darshan and offerings, and often shares glimpses of her prayers and the snow-covered temple on social media.

Wider Discussion on Religious Access

The Badri-Kedar Temple Committee says the affidavit requirement is intended to preserve tradition and ensure that visitors are genuine devotees. However, the new rule has sparked conversations about access and inclusivity at major pilgrimage sites in India.
