International Kudo athlete and 2017 Junior World Champion Mohd. Sohail Khan has won the gold medal in the Above 21 Years Male -250 PI category at the 11th Kudo Madhya Pradesh State Tournament, securing qualification for the upcoming national competitions.
Sohail defeated Chirag Rajawat of Shajapur in the final, finishing the bout in around 10 seconds. After a brief exchange of strikes, Sohail took the fight to the ground and forced Rajawat to submit.
Rajawat had reached the final after Aman Kshatri of Jabalpur, who had defeated him earlier, suffered an ankle injury and could not continue.
Competed despite high fever
Sohail reportedly entered the tournament despite suffering from a high fever. Having prepared for the competition, he decided to compete and eventually secured the gold medal.
With the victory, Sohail extended his record to 23 consecutive national gold medals. He is also reported to have an undefeated national record of 105 wins and no losses.
Speaking after his victory, Sohail said, “We get challenges each and every day. We just need to accept them and get them done.”
Selected for two national competitions
The win has secured Sohail’s selection for the 17th National Kudo Tournament 2026–27, scheduled to be held from November 13 to 15 at Veer Savarkar Stadium in Ahmedabad.
He will also compete in the 7th Kudo Federation Cup 2026–27, scheduled for November 18 and 19 at the same venue.
Sohail previously won the 2017 Junior Kudo World Championship and made history by claiming a silver medal at the 2025 Kudo World Cup in Bulgaria.
He will now prepare for the upcoming national competitions as well as the next Kudo World Championship in Japan.
