Patanjali Foods Recalls 4 Tonnes of Red Chilli Powder Over Pesticide Violations

Patanjali Foods Ltd has recalled four tonnes of its red chilli powder following a directive from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). The recall involves the 200-gram packs from Batch No. AJD2400012, which were found to exceed the permitted pesticide residue limits under the Food Safety and Standards (Contaminants, Toxins, and Residues) Regulations, 2011.

Sanjeev Asthana, CEO of Patanjali Foods, said, “The FSSAI sets strict maximum residue limits (MRLs) for food items, including red chilli powder. Our product sample did not meet these standards.”

The company has informed its distribution partners and issued advertisements to notify consumers.

“Customers who purchased the product are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund,” Asthana added.

He also mentioned that the company is reviewing its agricultural produce suppliers and strengthening its quality control measures to ensure compliance with FSSAI norms.
