At Tamil Nadu National Law University (TNNLU) in Tiruchi, a 22-year-old Dalit student filed a complaint, stating that he was tricked into drinking urine by his classmates during a gathering on January 6, 2024.
The alleged incident occurred within the college premises on the Tiruchi – Dindigul National Highway. The victim, a final-year Dalit student, discovered the deceit the next day and promptly reported the incident to the faculty.
S.M. Balakrishnan, Registrar of TNNLU, confirmed the initiation of an inquiry, stating, “Acting on the complaint, the institution has formed an anti-ragging committee with three assistant professors to conduct further inquiries. The committee will submit its report on January 18.”
Balakrishnan said that the university would take appropriate action based on the committee’s findings. He added, “If they are found guilty, the University will initiate disciplinary action against them and lodge a complaint with the police.”
