A 26-year-old Muslim youth named Isaar Ahmed was beaten to death by a Hindu mob in Sunder Nagri under the Nandnagari police station in north-east Delhi on Tuesday.

According to his family, he was tied to a pole and beaten with sticks and belts to the point of death. Isaar had come to participate in a religious program. There, he picked up the Prasad and ate it.

They said that some boys caught Isaar, tied him with a rope to a pole, beat him with sticks, and then ran away, leaving him half dead on the road.

According to the locals, Mohammad Isaar was mentally ill. He is survived by his four sisters and his father.

The family said even if there was an allegation of theft, the police would have taken action.

“How can someone keep the law in hand and kill someone by tying him to a pillar? Locals told that there is Hindu-Muslim tension here every day,” they said.

Police say that CCTV footage of the incident is being examined. The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Joy Tirkey, confirmed that a murder case has been registered, and a effort is underway to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for the assault.
