Women Perform Navgrah Puja at Sambhal’s New Police Post in Front of Jama Masjid

In Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday, December 28, local women performed Navgrah Puja at the new police station that is being constructed in front of the Jama Masjid. Interestingly, the Sambhal government has chosen to place a police station in front of Sambhal’s Jama Masjid.

On Friday, December 27, it was decided to construct a police post at the specified location, and the following day, construction started.

The police station is now known as the “Satyavrat Police Post.” On Saturday morning, Bhoomi Puja was held to commemorate the start of construction. A group of women arrived later in the evening to carry out customary rites.

Speaking to the media, the women said they feel safer now that there is a police station nearby.

One of the women said, “We feel safer with the police post here and came to light lamps before visiting the temple. We placed lamps on the Navgrah symbols we created.”

The move faced criticism from Asaduddin Owaisi. He said the government spends money on liquor shops and building police stations but not on schools and hospitals.

Owaisi said, “A police outpost is being constructed in front of the Jama Masjid in Sambhal. No matter which corner of the country you go to, the government neither opens schools nor hospitals. If anything is built, it is either a police outpost or a liquor shop. The government claims to have no funds for anything else, but there is always money for police outposts and liquor shops. Data itself shows that Muslim-majority areas receive the least government facilities.”
