Mob Attacks Mosque in Gurugram, One Muslim Man Killed, Three Injured

Gurugram Sector 57 was marred by violence on July 31 as Anjuman Masjid became a target of arson by an alleged Hindu mob.

Amidst the attack on the mosque, three Muslims were shot by a mob, and they were rushed to W Pratiksha Hospital for urgent medical attention. One of the injured individuals did not survive due to the severity of their wounds.

According to eyewitness accounts, Praveen Hindustani and Amit Hindu are suspected to be involved in the attack.

The eyewitnesses said that Maulana Saad was shot by the mob during the incident and eventually succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the hospital. Khurshid, another person injured in the incident, is currently in critical condition and has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for advanced medical attention. Additionally, Shahabudin and Mehmood are also undergoing treatment for their injuries.

Abdul Haseeb, a local, while talking to The Observer Post, said that a group of approximately 50 to 100 individuals launched an attack on the Mosque at around 12 AM, firing gunshots during the incident.

“They were firing at the Mosque, set the Mosque on fire while chanting Hindu slogans, and all the while Police Jeeps were present at the scene,” Haseeb said.

“The situation was already tense due to a communal incident in Mewat,” he said.

He stated that the mob was under the leadership of Hindu nationalists originating from the neighbouring village.

“Along with these people, the mob consisted of individuals from the Gujjar community,” he said.

Another eyewitness stated that due to the terror instilled by the mob, people were unable to leave their homes and move around freely during the unsettling incident.
